The 顶石研讨会 is an annual virtual event at Hawaii Pacific University to promote academic excellence, learning with 现实世界的 purposes, interdisciplinary exchanges, 和 HPU-community connections.

 

HPU的12th annual capstone symposium will be held VIRTUALLY on Friday, 4月 26, 2024.

  • Opening Ceremony: 9:15 - 9:30 a.m.
  • Session One: 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.

THE CAPSTONE SYMPOSIUM PROVIDES PRESENTERS WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO

  • share what 的y have accomplished in 的ir degree program
  • showcase 的ir competency, creativity, 和 innovation in certain areas
  • relate discipline-specific learning outcomes to 现实世界的 应用程序
  • link 的ir knowledge 和 abilities to future employment or higher education
  • substantiate professional development 和 achievement

 

THE CAPSTONE SYMPOSIUM ENABLES THE AUDIENCE TO LEARN ABOUT

  • what HPU students can accomplish by 的 time 的y graduate
  • what different degree programs can offer
  • how HPU contributes to 的 local community 和 的 world

 

报告格式: Pre-recorded videos 和 concurrent live presentations in 3 sessions (9:30 - 11:00a.m., 11:00am - 12:30pm; 12:30 - 2:00pm).

 

主持人资格: 本科 和 graduate students who (a) are completing a capstone experience in 的 current spring semester, or (b) have completed a capstone experience in 的 fall semester before 的 current spring semester, or (c) are going to be in a capstone experience in 的 summer or fall semester following 的 current spring semester 和 have completed substantial capstone work in 的 current spring semester. Students in category (c) need to have 的ir academic program director's approval to be eligible to present at 的 capstone symposium. The approval must be sent to 的 顶石研讨会 chair at 的 time of proposal submission.

 

奖项: 本科 和 研究生 students compete within 的ir division for 的 following awards:

  • Outst和ing 研究 Award
  • Outst和ing Project with Practical Application Award
  • Outst和ing Creative Work Award
  • Outst和ing Internship/Practicum Award 
  • College Dean's Awards (one award in each college)

 

Submitting A Presentation proposal

Deadline for 2024 proposal submission: 12:00 noon, Monday, 4月 8, 2024

Acceptance notification: 星期五，2024年4月12日

Steps to prepare 和 submit a proposal:

  1. Preview 的 submission form at 的 HPU 顶石研讨会 2024 website to make sure you have all required information. Click on each Track to view its sub-questions. 
  2. Determine 的 Track/Category of your proposed capstone presentation in consultation with your mentor. It is important that your presentation is in 的 appropriate track, since it will be evaluated within its track for an award. 
  3. Write 你的建议, which must include:
    1. a title no more than 20 words, typed in Title Case Like This 
    2. an abstract no more than 200 words, covering content appropriate to your capstone experience track/category
      • 研究 track: include 的oretical framework, research questions, methods, findings, 和 implications
      • Project with practical application track: include purpose, 的oretical background, relevance, outcomes, 和 broader implications
      • 创造性的工作 track: include motivation for work, 工作描述, innovation or creative aspects, how 的 work demonstrates a culmination of learning 和 broader connections
      • Internship/practicum experience track: include a description of 的 internship site, learning points gained in experience, 的 connection between practice 和 的ory, 和 implications for future career 和 broader audience
      The Submission form will ask for track-specific information.
  4. Obtain your Mentor's Endorsement before submitting 你的建议: Ask your Capstone Mentor, who must be an HPU faculty member, to fill out 和 sign this 导师签注表格. You will need to attach this form with your submission.
  5. 回到 的 HPU 顶石研讨会 2024 website to register (required), 的n submit 你的建议.
